E-Safety

Emscote Infant School takes e-safety very seriously; while below is some information you will find useful you can see our full E-Safety Policy here.

E-safety and the curriculum

E-safety has an important focus in the new national curriculum framework and is incorporated into every computing lesson. Children are taught to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly, and to know a range of ways to report concerns and inappropriate behaviour.

All websites used in lessons are checked by teachers before use, and the children have guided access on the iPads, secured by their teacher, to ensure they cannot roam the internet freely.

The staff have all received e-safety training from a local authority specialist.

E-safety and parents

You can find out more about e-safety using the links below.

Click here to access the website of the UK Safer Internet Centre, where you can find e-safety tips, advice and resources to help children and young people stay safe on the internet. Their really useful list of resources can be dowloaded from here.

CEOP is a command of the National Crime Agency, and is dedicated to tackling the sexual abuse and exploitation of children and young people. CEOP is there to help young people (up to the age of 18) who have been forced or tricked into taking part in sexual activity with anyone online or in the real world. CEOP also offers advice and links to support in response to other online problems young people might face, such as cyberbullying or hacking. For information and advice, and to report concerns directly to CEOP, visit the Safety Centre by clicking on the Click CEOP button (see left).

CEOP's Thinkuknow education programme for children of all ages and parents and carers has a very useful website, click here to find out more.

The school uses Thinkuknow's Hector's World resource for assemblies and in the curriculum, to help the children learn about and understand online safety issues.

We also use a range of books for the children, such as Digiduck's Big Decision and Webster's Friend, which help them learn to be a good friend online.

E-Safety Mark

As part of our commitment to this important area we are working towards gaining E-Safety Mark Accreditation through 360 degree safe, the e-safety review tool. For more information about this process click here.

We have gained certificates of commitment and progress which demonstrate the progress we are already making towards gaining full accreditation.
